Encouragement Challenge: Refreshing Your Resolve

We are 29 days into 2019 and I’d love to know how you are faring with your New Year’s Resolutions. Maybe you are like me and didn’t make resolutions in the traditional way, but set goals for yourself to achieve over the course of this year. How are you managing those goals? Have you made any headway?

Encouragement Challenge: Refreshing Your Resolve

This week’s challenge involves two parts, both of which I believe will help you stay (or get back) on track with your goals and dreams for 2019.

Part 1

Remember those personal goals you wrote down in Week 1 of this challenge? Dig them out and take a look at them. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Am I making progress toward my goals? Be honest here. It’s easy to say yes, but if, in reality, you haven’t looked or thought about that goal since we started, the only person you are cheating is yourself.
  • What steps do I need to take (or things I need to do) this week in order to make progress toward meeting them? Be specific.
  • What do I need to change in the way I am approaching my goals?
  • Who do I need to tell to keep me accountable? (A friend? A coworker? Your spouse?)

It’s okay if you haven’t achieved your goal yet, it’s only been 29 days, and yet, if you aren’t making progress toward that goal, when it comes to January 1, 2020, you’ll be back at square one. Give it your all today, tomorrow, this week, and this year so that you can have that better future you’ve been dreaming of.

Part 2

The second part of today’s challenge is completely optional, but I’d like you to consider joining a support group. This could include a group of friends with the same goals as you, or even a more structured venue. There’s a reason that there are so many “Anonymous” groups out there, it’s because they not only challenge you to a better future, but they also provide support when you are struggling to make it through the hard times.
