Inspiring Your Goals: Blogs, Books, and More

As we head toward a New Year (it’s coming up quick) and start to envision what our goals and dreams are for 2019, I thought it might be fun to take a look at a few blogs and books that I’ve found inspiring when it comes to my goals in life.

After all, we don’t navigate through life alone, and different perspectives can often leave us striving to be more than we ever dreamed we could be. Below are some of the resources for Inspiration for goals

Inspiring Your Goals: Blogs, Books, and More

Blogs

Sometimes we just need a little bit of bite-sized inspiration in our day, and that’s where great blogs come in.

Inspire My Style

One of my absolute favorite things about Candi is how down to earth she is. After 25 years in a banking career, Candi chose to switch gears and begin a successful Home Staging and Interior Decorating business in southwest Florida. She is the mom to two, ‘Nana to four, and so generously shares her knowledge and experiences on her blog, Inspire My Style.

And inspiring she is, because, even though her blog is geared toward the 60+ age group, Candi’s expertise on home decorating, healthy living, and fashion are valuable for women of all ages. I, personally, am always so excited when the announcement of a new Inspire My Style blog post comes into my email.

Candi has faced a lot of challenges in her life, you can find more about them HERE, but none of them have derailed her from her goal of inspiring women to be their best selves now. If you could use some inspiration today, I highly recommend checking out Candi’s blog.

One Exceptional Life

It’s been about six months since I met Wendy Wallace and her story (and positive perspective) drew me to her immediately. She’s the mother of three children in their twenties, wife of 28 years, and has always been of an entrepreneurial mind (her words, not mine). In fact, she even ran a wellness-based business out of her home while her kids were growing up.

All of that changed in 2011 when she contracted Necrotizing Fasciitis, a flesh-eating bacteria, that resulted in the amputation of both her hands and her feet. Despite the early days of her recovery when she found herself saying “I can’t”, Wendy took on the perspective that she won’t allow herself to be limited by a handicapped body and negative attitude, but rather, will inspire others through her struggles, mistakes, and personal triumphs.

Her blog, One Exceptional Life, is about overcoming obstacles, inspiration, hope, and even includes a little entertainment. While she might speak to amputees at times, it’s really geared toward anyone facing challenges, because Wendy wants to encourage facing challenges with a smile on your face and a conviction that you can get through it and be stronger than ever before.

Interested in learning more about Wendy’s journey? I highly recommend heading over and taking some time to embrace Wendy’s inspiring journey. Who knows, you might just find a new perspective on your own future.

Books

There’s nothing better than sitting down in front of the fireplace on a chilly night and reading an inspiring book. In fact, I’ve got two for you that I highly recommend. Books are one of the best ways to get inspiration for goals.

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

If ever there was a book to inspire you as far as what you are worth, this is the one to read. It’s a work of fiction, but Francine River’s writing will draw you into the story in such a way that you’ll feel like you were there, anticipating the struggles the characters encounter and learning that your worth isn’t dictated by how you feel.

If You Only Knew by Jamie Ivey

This book changed my life in more ways than one and I just like to recommend it to you, especially if you find yourself in a season of life where you can’t comprehend what others might think if you let them in on the secret of who you really are. Jamie Ivey’s story held my attention chapter after chapter as she discloses the struggles she’s faced, mistakes she’s made, and the methods she used to offload the burden of the past and embrace the potential for her future.

Struggling with being courageous? This one’s for you.

Podcast

If you are into listening to podcasts, which I do for at least an hour a day, you might be interested in the following:

Online Marketing Made Easy – Amy Porterfield

This is definitely a podcast geared toward those starting out in online business, so if that’s you, check it out. Amy is down to earth, easy to listen to, and has loads of great tips and tricks for busy entrepreneurs.

Goal Digger – Jenna Kutcher

I love Jenna’s podcast, mostly because it’s so varied from episode to episode. While Jenna likes to talk to goal-oriented women who are trying to make a difference in the business world, I find that a lot of her episodes (especially those that involve interviews) speak to the heart of women, no matter what stage of life you might be in. She makes it easy to pick and choose as you sort through hundreds of her podcast episodes, as her descriptions are really thorough.

Women Inspiring Women – Melanie Mitro

It’s all about conquering your fears as you step out into the world looking for success in whatever it is you’ve set your mind to do. Melanie was a stay-at-home mom who found success in an online business she started from her kitchen table. If that’s not inspiring, I don’t know what is.

Feeling Inspired?

Hopefully, that gives you a little variety to check into over the next few weeks as you contemplate what your goals might be for the year ahead. Don’t worry if you haven’t made one just yet, we still have plenty of discussion coming up on that very topic, so stay tuned!
